I have a TYM 293 maybe around 7 years now. I have been very pleased with it, it has been a very dependable tractor. I have encountered an electrical problem I could use some advice on. After using for about 2 hours the tractor just abruptly quite running, completely dead, nothing when turning the key in either direction and the gauges all showed were they were when the motor quit. I replaced a 40 amp master fuse that was behind the steering column under the steering wheel and it would run again as usual. Then about 3 days later it happened again , same scenario except now when I put in a new 40 amp master it immediately blows the fuse, like a direct short somewhere. Has anyone experienced anything similar.

I think you answered your own question with the "direct short" paragraph.

Probably a wire just rubbed somewhere and it's causing a short and blowing the fuse. You may need to dig deep on the wiring of the tractor and check for some damaged wires.

In the interim and while you're searching your could consider replacing the fuse with a forty amp resettable circuit breaker.

If it is bowing the 40-Amp fuses, it will be a big wire, and should have burned enough paint and insulation that it will be easy to see. Hopefully there are‘nt any other wires run next to it, that have been damaged.

And quit screwing around replacing fuses. That is how you burn up a whole harness assmbly, bulkhead fittings, etc.

Thanks for the info, yes it was a short where a main wire harness went under the bottom edge of the fire wall. I took a short piece of rubber garden hose with zip ties, so far problem solved.
