Getting a bit warmer here and I'm planning to do some scheduled maintainance. I will be re-torquing the cylinder head as well as setting the valve clearance. A question for anybody out there who may have a similar engine (30 HP), would you know what the torque values are for the cylinder head bolts and the rocker-arm bolts. My manual specs out the cylinder head values at 89-100 ft/lbs (120 - 135 N-M). Is this correct?
There are no specs for the rocker arm bolts /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Joe,

Thanks a lot, that surely helped. Larry did a wonderful job with his photos.

Personally I would not exceed 120 ft lbs, I think 155 is too much over factory spec. we use 100 in our shop.

Thanks Chip,

I was going to stick with specs which call for a max of 100 ft-lbs.

Would you know what you use for the rocker arms torque values?

I have not seen a spec on those, you can use the standard for the bolt size, remembering you are in cast iron, not steel, We just go by feel, tight but not too much.
