two double acting cylinders for plow angling

Getting ready to place my order, Realized that the cylinders I designed to are double acting.

I think this is a blessing in disgiuse: Can you say brush grapple for front bucket!

Question is, should I convert them to single acting for the plow (via breather inserted in unused port) or plumb them up such that the left is pushing while the right is pulling & vice versa? Or simply just buy one?

I'm thinking that two cylinders will double my factor of safety regarding the lateral loading, but haven't actually done the calculation & don't have time to right now.

Need help fast, want to place order before 3pm, so it ships today.

I would use one cylinder, much simpler
hosing.

If you have it designed for the double acting, by all means use them. It will be much stronger with a cyl on both sides to take the force of pushing.

I think I'll go for one for now. I can always add another.

Use one double acting, but size the cylinder according to the pull side force ((bore area - shaft area) x psi)...

i used single, double action piston on my Cheap Snow Plow, see power trac. Works great, same speed to both side. good luck

regular angling plow assy has 2 cyls..1 push,1 pull...change angle and they reverse....Sid

They both push only since it is a single acting
system.
Opposite cylinder just vents oil back to tank.
