Does anyone have a turbo installed on a 990, or is there an aftermarket kit to do this? I am looking for a little more power and a more efficient engine.

That's a really hard sell on the "more efficient engine" argument to justify a turbo JD990. That little Yanmar engine fairly well "sips" fuel in it's current configuration - IMO.

I had the earlier generation of JD CUT's in that line (JD 970) and could use the tractor all week (tilling, disc harrowing, etc.) on a tank of fuel.

Now... more power-torque - that's an easier argument to make. But --- what kinds of work are you doing with your tractor that the 990 can't handle?

Depending upon what your work-load is; (right tool for the job...) maybe you should be lookin' at the turbo'ed 4000x20 series of machines.

Or the 5000 series!

I think my 5000 series is better on fuel than the 3720 I have...

hmmm, have you run them doing the same chores and compared that way? Or is the turbo more fun to drive and you cannot keep the foot light?

LOL... no.... I use the 5000 series to pull a Konskilki (sp) most of the time. The 3720 could not even lift that let alone pull it. I can run that tractor for 3 hours and the fuel guage barley moves. I would guess I run around a gallon an hour?
our for hour, I think the 3720 takes up more fuel. I have no fact to prove it... It just seems that way. I have more hours on the 5000 by far, and it feels like I fill up the 3720 more often. And I would guess thier fuel tanks hold close to the same?

I guess I should have said that I thought my 3720 is thirsty...LOL
