I have a JD 1050 4 x 4 and was wondering about the benefit of adding a tubor charger.
Any comments/suggestions?

Turbo charging provides more hp and yields a 30% saving on fuel. However, your engine needs to be designed for it. Usually, the compression ratio is reduced some to avoid having too much combustion pressure with the turbo. Probably a bunch of other issues to deal with, too.

Just do a search on the internet...wealth of infomation available.
Unless you want to get inside the engine (new pistons and maybe rings), keep your power increase modest. You may have to adjust the injection pump too.
This can be done if you're reasonably good with a wrench and, as mentioned, keep the expected power increase modest.

A modest boost in intake pressure and you will not need to do anything to the engine. Usually any boost pressures under 7psi will not harm anything. Problems occur when you start boosting fuel delivery and boost pressures.

All the 1050s I have ever seen have a turbo. did somebody steel yours?

That is true. All 1050's were built with turbos. If you don't have one, I would suspect someone swapped in a different engine from another model.
