Trying out a new snowblower mod

I also used a crazy carpet and cut a circle out of it and put it on the bottom of the chute. It didn't last. When the chute gets iced up and is sticking or won't turn just pour antifreeze on it. Use the household kind . May be less dangerous to any pets you might have around compared to the automotive type should they get in contact with it.

what you need is an adjustable slip clutch on the hydraulic motor. https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers...miters-Slip-Clutches/zgbs/industrial/16411621 that way, when the set torque is reached, the slip clutch will slip, rather than damaging anything!..

Some of those torque limiters cost more than my snowblower!

The remote valve and steel cable are my torque limiters...

I think the best option would be to weld a large sprocket on the base of the chute and either direct drive it or use a timing belt or chain. Then I could aim the chute at the cab for a "pressure wash" with ice, snow and gravel...

how about a Hydraulic Pressure Control Valve? some of them are $73.. Hydraulic Pressure Control Valves - Hydraulic Valves - Grainger Industrial Supply

I'm finally putting the snowblower away!

I am happy to report that the UHMW self adhesive tape worked extremely well and exceeded my expectations. I originally guessed I would be lucky if it lasted a season.

The photo below shows how I wound the tape around the inside chute tube. It also shows the PE ring I made to make the chute rotate and slide with less friction.

The tape was originally white and now appears clear. It held on the exit tube and never came off. The UHMW provided enough slip that the chute never jammed up while rotating. If the summer heat doesn't cause the tape to peel off while the snowblower is in storage, I expect to get another season use out of the tape. If I was smart I probably should have wrapped something around to hold the tape in place as "just in case", but, oh well, the snowblower is now sitting in the storage rack 16 feet off the ground. I will see if it's still there in the fall time.

Would I by the product again to do this in the future? Absolutely.

Glad it worked!! Seems it became clear from UV radiation. UHMW and its cousin HDPE, is some incredibly good materiel to have around.

No, we haven't had enough of it yet and I can now see some patches of ground. I put away the snow blower today so we will get another snow storm tonight.
