I have seen this behavior twice now, and I managed to get a sample of it.

I thought I had been reading everyone's postings, completely. But somehow in the reading pane I have lost the last few lines of posts.

An example is post number 55148 under the Good Morning thread.

You will see what I read, and quoted back is only a partial of the entire post that the OP made.

What setting is causing me to lose lines?

Capture2 is the original post.

Capture1 is all I read and replied to.

What operating system are you using?

Screen capture what it looks like after you have hit reply but before you post. We need to figure out if it's happening when you hit reply or when you hit post.

Windows 7.

Capture1 is exactly as I read it (the quoted grey area) , and how it posted.

Very intermittent as I have not been able to duplicate it since. Woe is me.

I understand what the photos are. When you hit reply to a post it shows the text and then you reply below that text (just like an email). What isn't clear is if the text is disappearing before or after you type your reply.

The browser is an easy check. Just make sure it's up to date. If the problem persists you could try a different one- Chrome, IE, Firefox, Safari are the main ones. The platform specific bugs haven't been as big an issue of late but it's an easy one to try as most folks have a few installed already.

The truncation appears in the original reading pane.

The truncation appears in the quoted text, preview pane when editing.

The truncation then appears in the quoted text of the replied to post, when posted.

I noticed it after a few other posters had quoted the exact message. Then I went back and re-read the OP and saw that I was dropping lines.

I think it occurs when my browser window is full screen, and the posting I am replying to has a lot of lines in it, and is the last post within the window frame.

Anyway, I will have to watch it more carefully, as one can get into a nice bit of trouble, not reading the whole post!

I don't understand the first sentence- especially in relation to the fifth. To me you are saying when you read a post (could be the OP?) it is already shortened/truncated? But when you go back and reread the OP the full text is there.

Exactly.
