The front axle appears to be a lift axle.
Can't really see well enough to be sure, but I think I see a bearing cap like should be on a non-powered axle on the front axle.

Red circle makes me think it's not a drive axle.
Blue circle makes me certain that it's a lift axle

Did you look at the other pictures? Looks like a driveshaft was removed. Wondered why

There are a few true tri’s out there. Military has them, too. Always wondered how the front-most axle survives the stress of full lock turns!

Lot of truck for the money

Absolutely a twin screw with a pusher. Probably with a bad rear diff or a power divider that won't unlock.

Looks like rolling scrap with the possibility of a decent engine and transmission.

You can see the oil bath hub plug on the first rear axle, I never see any on road 3 powered axle trucks...

Upon close inspection of the frame, I see some metal fatigue and swelling

That frame swelling is nothing I have seen and fixed worse.........

What's the interest in a tractor trailer ?.....

What is the terrain like where you live? If you have lots of hilly roads, you will be disappointed in the 9 speed.

Well, just a tractor, but anyhow
Probably like just about everyone on TBN, I have interest in lots of different equipment. I have 25 pieces of construction and farming equipment. Made my living with equipment for last 30 years. I farm 1000 tons of hay a year, do significant land clearing/brush mowing, some excavation, drive CDL trucks, etc.
Im always interested in buying, selling, upgrading, changing equipment
I have logged millions of CDL truck driving and I like to discuss equipment related topics.

Just because someone posts a thread about something doesnt mean they want to buy it.

I was just trying to get opinions on if it was a true tri, not that I wanted to buy it.
I am a fan of IH tractors and trucks and I thought they were a ground breaking company with a lot of visionary ideas in equipment, too.

Theres a few available out west. Re-purposed ex-military.

I’d hate to pay for a trailer that needs hooked to a 3 axle truck. 24 tires plus the steers would be affordable as well.

I figure if anyone was going to produce a true tri, it might be IH

I was raised with a 1943 K7, w/Blue Diamond 269 and Clark 5spd, then my dad bought a newer one, 1944...Lol.

Since you are an IH fan, you will like this truck, 1947 KB12. He has 20 acres of this type stuff. Turn your speakers up!
