I have an old Troy-Bilt Horse rear tine tiller and it's been working fine up until today. I was tilling my garden spot and one of the tines fell off (the right one, if standing behind the tiller). No big deal I thought so I put the bolt back in through the tine and attached it back to the tiller.

The tine spins fine when it's not under any load but when I put it back on the ground the left tine spins like normal but the right one (the one that fell off) doesn't want to turn. I backed off the bolt a little thinking maybe I overtightened it but that didn't help. Should I loosen it more or is there another trick or something I can try? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like you lost the key on the right side. Take the right side off and you should see a key in the slot on the tine shaft.

When the tine holder and tines fell off the key went also but you didn't see it. Take the other side off and take that key to a hardware store with you and buy one like it to replace the missing key and your back in business for less than $1.00. I take my tine holders off each year and and clean and grease the shafts, if you don't they tend to rust tight
