That is a "tricky" question He rode several different horses in the years the show was on. But I will let others take a crack at this one.

Might be a trick question. Having grown up in this era, I watched the early half-hour shows and absorbed every bit. I am nearly certain I never heard a horse's name. And yes, he did ride different horses.

Chester had a fan club, 1 Thing they were doing was collecting $$$ to get his leg operated on. Did he need an operation???

On most of the programs Matt rode 1 favorite horse, it was a big buck skin.
Dish Channel 342 is replaying the old black & white Gun Smokes that is where I learned the horses name.
Channel 106 is replaying the 1 hour color series.

John Wayne road the same or similar horse in many of his movies. But don't think that is what you are talking about.

The Rifle Man had a big ring lever action rifle as did Steve McQueen in bounty hunter.
Winchester made or may still make them.

What car company took a large v8 engine, basically cut it in 1/2 to make a 4 cylinder engine????

I don't know if it was made by Pontiac but my boss when I was in high school had an IH with a cut in half v8. It was upright, not laid on its side. He got a good laugh at my jaw dropping when he opened the hood. Looked just like someone made it at home with a Sawzall and welded a plate on.
