Is it an island????

That ugly old Webley is the one I was thinking of. Did not know about the more modern one.
Think years ago I saw a video of 1 being fired.

There was a rifle with a revolving cylinder. What happened to that "fine" fire arm??
See 1 in old westerns now & then.

Steve McQueen in " Wanted Dead Or Alive" carries a weird looking cut down lever action rifle.
His cartridge belt is rifle with 50 Cal shells, is that what it shot???

See 1 in old westerns now & then. Colt revolving carbine, Civil war era thing. Not a good idea to have a revolver cylinder up near your face, what with cylinder gap, and percussion cap pieces flying off into your eyes.. They were not a particularly good idea.

Maybe he had a sharps rifle for the large cartridges?. Or some producer thought it looked cool? I think Rossi makes a modern "mares leg"

those are my answers and I am sticking to em:laughing:

nailed it. How about a harder one.

What was the first branch of the Armed services to test the AR15/M16? And how did that come about?

Rossi makes a couple of them, a 38/357 and a 45/something. I know there is another mfg, higher end that makes a mare's leg, but not coming to mind right now.

They are a revolver, so legal...

Pretty sure it was the Air Force that put in the first order for the M16. I don't recall the whole story, but something about production issues with the M14, which allowed the M16 to get green lighted for the Marines and Army without first being fully vetted. Powder issues caused quick fouling on the M16's, and the early units weren't shipped with cleaning kits, causing several of our boys to be killed since they couldn't defend themselves.

Close??

Yep, If I recall, Eugene Stoner invited Air Force Gen Curtis Lemay to a party, and part of the fun was shooting watermellons with an AR-15. Lemay was impressed enough, to order some, but I believe McNamara turned down the request, I don't remember the details of how it finally got approved.
