Rex Allen was a singing cowboy in the era of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. I recall going to the Saturday shoot-em-ups, and before the movie started, there was a short feature where Roy Rogers introduced Rex Allen as an up and coming cowboy movie star! Seems like his horse was famous too, but I can't recall his name right now.

Tom Mix was also a real live sheriff, in Arizona as I recall. He was killed ca. 1942 in his Cord automobile.

Tom mix was killed when his auto crashed at a washed out bridge north of Tucson. There is a plack on what what use to be hwy 80, now state rout 79.

Rex Allen was known as the last Singing Cowboy. He actually A cowboy. Horse's name I think was named "Kiki", may be wrong.

South of Phoenix AZ, near the end of WW2 was an famous (infamous) happening. It was in an area know as "Papago park."
