Tried out a new 7040 and a Case 75c

The OP is faced w/ the same issue, every time sensitive endeavor faces.
Scenario: It snows like the dickens all night right through the next morning. This is a somewhat economically depressed area, no offense, but some folks must be plowed out by the time they must leave for work. Mind you it is still snowing.

Do you skip ahead and just visit working folks, then double back to catch retirees? Depending upon distances, lots of duplication?

Now it is noon, snow has tapered off. But how much snow is in the driveway plowed at 6 am? Gotta go back? If it is snowing hard, how early can plowing begin, and not snow back in when time for client to exit for work?

I use plowing, know OP is using blower. Does plowing in middle of night, make the dog bark, wake homeowner, who becomes annoyed?

All the driveways can NOT be treated at the optimal hour, ?? I believe this is a difficult proposition wherein customer relationships are not strained, while realizing a profit? Do folks pay in advance,? Snow blowing now not the tax accounting scenario below. What about the customer who wasn't plowed before work, and now wants refund or won't pay?

I see those guys w/ pick ups every winter. Many will plow a driveway for $15/$20 per trip. We recieve about 100 inches, NOt 150.

When the event is over, I take my thermos, sit in my warm cab, move the snow, tractor back in the shop, no pressure, no haste, repeat as necessary, I am the only customer. When NOV. Arrives, I can't wait for April.

My accountant used to lament, He could not do everyone's taxes in the timeframe they wanted them completed. The working folks w/ refunds get the documents, they want to file the next day. The folks that paid quarterly, and owed a little, like me, not so much in a hurry. Then the late filers, documents ready on the day before deadline, now they too want to file on time. The business clients, more routine schedule, less panic.

I think I am just about ready to pull the trigger on the 75c. I like the office on it much better and the 5k less in purchase price is appealing. I do have to look at financing but I believe both offer 0% for 60. I am nervous of the Case quality as I have read a few bad reviews but again not that many folks take the time to do a review of a tractor not giving issues. I never have. I grew up running International tractors and they were awesome but these are not the same so that goes out the window. It seems the Kubota is very popular, so much in fact that it makes one wonder why. Is the tractor that great or do folks purchase them due to seeing others using them and going with the popular vote? Have you ever purchased something for less money and wished you had spent the money in a year? I have. Every time I cheap out I get bitten. I don't think this is the case here.

I would not be overly concerned with the initial quality of the Case or NH equivalent. Kubota is second to none in initial quality. After a couple thousand hours it evens out. Not to belabor the point but most farmers around here with both NH, Case, Deere, and Kubota are satisfied with their units. To me the added weight and cab is better on the Case and NH. With aggressive pricing and financing they are a good option. My local dealer sells a ton of under 50 HP Kubota's. Over 50 HP and it's mostly New Holland.

I agree on paper and in comfort the Case wins hands down. My gut says go Case. I am not sure why I am questioning my gut other than I see so many Kubota tractors out there but yes most of them are smaller.

I would try to get a higher horsepower tractor. I started snowblowing with a Kubota M7040 and then upgraded to a John Deere 5093e. HUGE horsepower difference while running the blower. If you can afford it buy more horsepower!!

Re: Tried out a new 7060 and a Case 75c

I had a Kubota M5040 ROPS for 10 years. Not one single problem. I wanted to upgrade to a cab tractor with more HP. I have been around farm machinery my whole life and am mechanically and operator knowledgeable. Kubota was first on the list to see for obvious reasons with my good luck with them (I also have a Kubota zd326 zero turn mower).

I looked at the Kubota m7060, Case 75c, New Holland T4.75, John Deere 5075e, and Massey Ferguson 4707. All excellent choices. They needed to be equipped with 2 remotes, 3rd function, radial tires, front fenders, wheel weights, air seat, external 3pt controls ( not available on Kubota), and loader.

Kubota is smaller and very agile (great turning radius), has a smaller but comfortable cab, no buddy seat, is very well built, has 6 speed transmission with 2 ranges, tilt wheel, good visibility, and achieved tier 4 with DPF and regens (not a fan). Though very well built, this tractor had the least creature comforts. It rode a little rough and was expensive at $46500. I give it a 8/10.

Case /NH has a very nice cab with buddy seat and good visibility. 4 speed transmission with 3 ranges, tilt wheel, very good turning radius, high visibility roof, and great finance options. Air seat is comfortable but has short armrests. Tractor has nice ergonomics overall. Access to fuel filters is not good. The tier 4 was achieved with a hybrid DPF called a Particulate Matter Catalyst, which requires less regens than Kubota. Price as optioned $46000. I give it a 9/10.

John Deere 5075e is a nice looking tractor, very agile, has good gearing (4 speed with 3 ranges)with awkward park control, good visibility, mediocre ergonomics (primitive controls), achieves tier 4 with DPF and regens, has cheap draft arm sway links, no buddy seat, and lots of complaints on this Indian built tractor ( you will see many for sale with under 100 hrs). I quickly removed this one from the list with its $48500 price and cheap build quality. 7/10

Massey Ferguson has by far the largest and best cab with buddy seat, excellent ergonomics, very comfortable seat/armrests, tilt and telescopic steering wheel (only tractor with telescoping feature), high visibility roof, and excellent visibility. 6 speed transmission has 2 ranges and adjustable shuttle shift sensitivity (smoothest of them all). Also has de-clutch on shifter and shuttle lever (making the left foot unnecessary), easy access to fuel and oil filters, loader mounted lighting, and right and left fender mounted 3 pt controls. Massey Ferguson achieved tier 4 with only a DOC (similar to catalytic converter) and requires no regen or DEF and is totally maintenance free(this is a huge aadvantage). It is a very heavy tractor at 8600# not including loader or weights (even has Metal hood and roof). It also was the quietest of all the cabs. Turning radius is slightly less than the Case, but still very good. Trellborg tires are among the very best. On paper, the Massey's specs blow the others away. Price as optioned $44500. They also offered a $400 rebate on select Woods implements when purchasing a time of tractor purchase. I give it a 9.5/10, with only deduction for being slightly less agile with its larger size. I decided to go with the 4707 because of build quality, dealer, overall feel in the seat, and price. Massey Ferguson is made by AGCO, who also makes Fendt, Valtra, and Challenger. These brands have some of the best global technologies and it flows downstream to the smaller tractors. Just take a look at YouTube at the Fendt tractors and you will see for yourself.

The choices were all excellent which made decisions tough. Any of these tractors will likely serve you well. In the end, I went with the tractor that felt most comfortable, looked to have best build quality/ heft, had easiest maintenance accessibility, least emission control, best pricing, and best dealer support and that was the 4707.

Thanks for the great write up...
After you get some hours on your tractor please update us on it's performance...
Massey has great specs on that series...
There have been some negative reviews on You Tube on it but also other brands...
Even of my T4.75...
I figured a nice low 1,000 hour unit would at least have the teething issues out...
Didn't really have any glaring issues with the new Workmaster 50 at the time even though some others have..
Thanks for your input...

Re: Tried out a new 7060 and a Case 75c

The negative reviews were on the first production models as the factory was purposely built for the Global tractors. So, not only was it a fresh design build, but also a fresh factory. They have all that worked out now and are building fine machines.

No matter what brand you buy, most of them are quite good and, if taken care of, will last a very long time. Kubota, Massey, Case/NH...all fine machines.
