The OP is faced w/ the same issue, every time sensitive endeavor faces.
Scenario: It snows like the dickens all night right through the next morning. This is a somewhat economically depressed area, no offense, but some folks must be plowed out by the time they must leave for work. Mind you it is still snowing.
Do you skip ahead and just visit working folks, then double back to catch retirees? Depending upon distances, lots of duplication?
Now it is noon, snow has tapered off. But how much snow is in the driveway plowed at 6 am? Gotta go back? If it is snowing hard, how early can plowing begin, and not snow back in when time for client to exit for work?
I use plowing, know OP is using blower. Does plowing in middle of night, make the dog bark, wake homeowner, who becomes annoyed?
All the driveways can NOT be treated at the optimal hour, ?? I believe this is a difficult proposition wherein customer relationships are not strained, while realizing a profit? Do folks pay in advance,? Snow blowing now not the tax accounting scenario below. What about the customer who wasn't plowed before work, and now wants refund or won't pay?
I see those guys w/ pick ups every winter. Many will plow a driveway for $15/$20 per trip. We recieve about 100 inches, NOt 150.
When the event is over, I take my thermos, sit in my warm cab, move the snow, tractor back in the shop, no pressure, no haste, repeat as necessary, I am the only customer. When NOV. Arrives, I can't wait for April.
My accountant used to lament, He could not do everyone's taxes in the timeframe they wanted them completed. The working folks w/ refunds get the documents, they want to file the next day. The folks that paid quarterly, and owed a little, like me, not so much in a hurry. Then the late filers, documents ready on the day before deadline, now they too want to file on time. The business clients, more routine schedule, less panic.
