trencher attachment

This comes by way of Lincoln Electric e-newsletter... I thought it was a pretty good idea and not too difficult to put together.

"The owner of a water control and excavation business needed an innovative tool for creating trenches to accommodate the standard flexible piping plus gravel that he uses for wet location drainage that would be easy to use plus save time and labor. I designed and built this trenching attachment, customized for his excavator. The real beauty of this tool is that it gives him the ability to easily trench within contact range of structures, patios, shrubbery, etc., a task that previously required labor intensive pick and shovel work. An added bonus is greatly reduced cleanup and landscape repair at the jobsite compared to his previous trenching method, using a 1 ft. bucket.

"The trencher is constructed of 1/4 in. angle, 3/8 in. I-beam and 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. plate steel. My Lincoln PRO-MIG 175 proved more than up to the task, providing smooth wire and arc delivery with no trouble whatsoever."

Sounds interesting, but I couldn't get a good sense of what it looks like... is it attached to FEL, or rear blade, does it rotate... I'm just confused... maybe a photo from another angle?

I assumed it slipped over the teeth/bucket on the hoe.

Just curious if anyone ever figured out how or what this attaches to. I'm trying to come up with an idea to make a trencher that will work off the backhoe, and I'm thinking this might be the cool deal, if I could only figure out where it goes.

Tried that..not much help, other then looking at the Lincoln article a couple times. I'll keep rooting around til I find something, or waste some steel trying to make one. thanks for the note though

In Holland they use profile buckets to dig ditches:
