I know the timber guys can't quote accurate values from pictures, but I'm wondering if it's even worth having somebody come look at it. I don't even know for sure what it is though if I make a call.

Height is probably 80' or more, maybe 100'. Circumference is more than I can get my arms around, so maybe 10-12'. Can't get a clear shot of the leaves, but I could snip some off with a pole saw if it mattered. Drops those long stringy things, maybe seed pods or blossoms. One picture is of the bottom of a large branch.

Looks like a pecan tree.

Yes, it appears to be some variety of pecan. There are many varieties.

We have a pecan in our back yard, pretty large. Looks like the same thing but I couldn't tell you what variety it is. Ours took a direct lightning hit 3 years ago and is as nice as ever.

The valve is in the negative. Pertaining the idea that someone is going to pay you to cut it and haul it off is crazy. Yard tree logs are generally worth nothing. Even if they were loading them and getting them to a mill would cost more than they’re worth. And BTW this is one post where location would actually be useful.

Most mills will not touch a yard tree. One piece of metal would destroy their blades. There might be some Mobil band saw folks that would touch it. Forestry forum is a good place to find them.

Doesn't produce any kind of nut that I know of. Might be a form of Hickory as I have a few others of those, but the leaves don't match.

Wouldn't normally bother about a 'yard tree' except for the size of this one and that I can get the trucks in and out fairly easily. Also have a couple of large Oaks that might help their trip worth. Nearest crew cuts mine timbers.

The lone pecan one in our yard, the 10 years I been there has only produced nuts 2 years. Not sure why.

I agree with it will be hard to find someone willing to pay you to take it. There is just as much time in bringing in something to load one tree as there is 50 trees.

Not uncommon for it not to fruit.
If there isn't another one nearby, it probably isn't pollinating.
I don't know where you are, but weather is a big factor too.

Pecan is a hickory...makes for great meat smoking wood...

It also looks a bit like an Ash.

An image search for 'pecan blossom' shows the same long things they call 'catkins' for some reason. But then I see the same types of pictures identified as Shagbark Hickory which I also have a lot of. Bark doesn't loom the same though unless it changes on very large trees.
