Transmission upgrade features...

I didn't get those cool upgrades that total about $100 (cruise upgrade and creeper...) But when I was tracing down some problems, I noticed that it looks like everything except the switches is already there, and the switches would set me back ~$16

That would be interesting - but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the control module/box/brain doesn't also have to be 'programmed' for the function. Kind of like some software - the features are techinically 'in there' but if you didn't license it - you don't get it. Can't believe that Deere would actually have mulitple (physically different) versions of the CPU.

When my dealer talked about installing these two features, he said he had to add the control module as part of the installation. Don't know if it replaced the existing module or was an additional module.

You've got the cruise... right? I thought it was standard equipment on the 4310 - I didn't get the optional feature that lets you add speed from the rocker switch... just seemed like overkill. I do use the cruise feature quite a bit.

A switch only and labor to install and test sounds like about $100 to me. My guess is that the controller/firmware is the same. I have the upgraded cruse control and the other speed setting option and have never used them. The switch, on the other had looks nice sitting there with the others /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So I can't go wrong getting the switches. I lose that Space For The Option You Didn't Get and even if it doesn't work, I am no worse off than someone who bought it and didn't use it!
