Transmission Operation Yanmar 2310

Hello, hope everyone had a better week than me. Does anyone know where I can fine info on how the transmission in my Yanmar 2310 works. It was having some delayed engagements and Wednesday it put it self on a engagement hold. Not sure if it is a clutch? The PTO also stopped working. If I install it in gear with the pto engaged without a load, the pto will turn slow. However the tractor will not move. ANy help would be great. Thanks

Sounds like a clutch, main shaft or something in the drive mechanism. The main shaft transmits power from the clutch to the transmission and pto, neither of which are working. You should be able to troubleshoot with the shifter cover removed.

I agree with normde2001 that it sounds like your clutch. If it is the clutch in your YM2310 the parts are readily available from several sources and changing them out is not too difficult. I know because I changed out all of the clutch related components in my YM2310D this past winter.

With regard to your question about how the transmission in the YM2310 works you will find the answers you need in the service manual for a YM276. That is the US model equivalent of the YM2310. It has service and theory sections on all of the parts of the tractor including the transmission. I relied on the service section of this manual this past winter to help me change out the clutch in my tractor.
