Transmission/Hydro Dipstick

Does anyone know if when checking the Trans fluid on a 1610D, whether or not to screw the dipstick all the way in to check it? Or do you just let it sit on the top of the threads?

Also after changing the Hydro fluid, I noticed a high pitched squel coming from the pump while blading some heavy wet sand and dirt. I had the tractor in 4 wheel drive with the rear diff. locked and in pretty low gear since it was muddy and was a pretty good load on it. Is this normal under heavy load? I was not running the loader at the time so Im assuming I shouldnt have overloaded the pump, once I raised the blade and shifted out of 4X4 and unlocked the rear diff. and got into a higher gear it stopped...

Dipstick not screwed in on my 1700. Not sure about the rest but, my guess is that there may be air

I think you'll get a million different answers for your first question.

After researching this mystery in the US Yanmar manuals I concluded they want you to check a threaded dipstick without threading it in, but you check a rubber-plug style dipstick by shoving it all the way in. At least I think that is what the manuals are trying to say.

Did you clean the pickup screen when changing the fluid, and use the correct fluid?

Cleaned the screen per instructions on here and used a JD 303 trans/hydro oil which was traveler brand. The back of the jug listed it as exceeding JD 303 and listed a bunch of brands of tractor including Yanmar so I figured it was good, thats why Im stumped as to the reason.

I guess Ill have to load it down again this weekend and see if it repeats itself......
