Transmission forward and reverse

John Deere 5200 having problem with transmission going into reverse and working properly; but when shifting to any forward speed tractor will not move. Any help appreciated. Know very little about this tractor. Eighty three year old guy with limited ability to repair tractor like once was able to.

I am a little confused. Tell us what exactly happens when you try to shift into reverse? Do I understand correctly that it will not move at all In forward gears?

Which transmission do you have?

Works fine in reverse but will not move when shifting to any forward gear. Not sure which transmission.

5200 came with three transmission options; Collar Shift, TSS, (Top Shaft Synchronized) and Power Reverser.

The Power Reverser will have the Forward Reverse lever on the dash.

There may be a decal/sticker on the hood/cowl stating the transmission.

A JD dealer may be able to tell you what transmission you have from the serial number.

Let us know what transmission you have. I am guessing Power Reverser.

Have ID'd the problem. For info ball and roller at the bottom of shift lever worn and broke shaft. Parts required but maybe not too bad. Thanks all for help.
