trans axle problems.

Hi my name is Bill 53 years old I like to work on tractors just the lawn mowing type,not the big ones.I recently had a problem with my trans axle on my Husqvarna YTH2246.I sent for the upper casing of the trans because mine had cracked and leaking oil all over.So I took all of the gears out of the old cracked one and put them into the new one.Well now I can hear the hydrostatic drive trying to kick in but it just don't move either axle i've tried moving the bypass valve in and out it seems like nothing makes a difference,got any ideas what my problem might be,i'll take any suggestions to get this tractor out cutting grass and blowing snow with.......Thanks Bill
