I'm looking at getting a 5th wheel dump to haul my tractor loader backhoe. Is it legal to rest the loader bucket on top of the 5th wheel framework? That would let me go with a shorter trailer.

I don't know but the fellas here will. Maybe post in the section on trailers and transportation.

Also, you should note where you are as regulations are different in different areas. The folks here are super helpful so I'm sure you'll get a good response.

if the loader arms are chained down, you should be fine.

i routinly haul two fullsize backhoes on my lowboy, and have to put one boom and bucket up on the gooseneck to make it all fit; no issues

Make sure there is a strap or chain over the bucket or Mr DOT will be less than satisfied.
