I just got my tech manual for the 4300, and I'm new to reading schematics.. but.. I found a couple of interesting items.

One is a "brake switch", and the other is called "trailer connector."

Would this suggest, perhaps, that one could tap in somewhere to wire up a connector so that a normal road trailer would have appropriate lighting including brake lights and turn signals?

That would certainly be a worthwhile addition, and might be easy if the JD already has the wiring in place.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks,
Bob

Would that be a four wire or is it the 7 wire connector and is it wired for American or Canadian standards? And where might you place the connector?

Egon,

Looks to be the 7 wire connector, and on further examination of the book it appears to be an option.. not standard equipment. The connector appears to come with a mounting bracket, but it isn't clear (at least to me) where in the back it is mounted.

This might be more trouble than it's worth, since I'll be towing a low trailer, and my top-ROPS-mounted strobes will be very visible from behind, as should my side flashers, etc.

Hi John,

Appreciate the effort, but whatever site you sent me to presented me with a username/password prompt.. and nothing else.

I guess I need to go somewhere first and sign up?

Thanks,
Bob

Thanks, John.. the new links worked fine!

I guess this is an optional accessory. I'll have to think about whether it's worth adding.

Appreciate your wizardry!

John:
On the trailer wiring harness why are there 7 leads at the plugin and only 6 leads going into the conduit. Is there a splice in the conduit or is my counting in error?

Egon,

Either the "seventh" pin is used for "Chassis/Frame ground" or could be a "dummy" pin for keying purposes...

I'll look at mine later and let you know... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
