Anyone know of any limitations to back spaceing on standard trailers?

Ive been looking for some 16" rims on CL for spare tires for my trailer, and i ran across a set of AL 16" off an GMC truck (6on5.5 that i need) but it occurs to me that stock truck tires from back in the day often featured deep backspaceing 5-5.5" and stock aftermarket rims often were 4" BS.

Anyone know of any issues running "deep" BS wheels?

Backspace is usually not a issue but what is will be is the center hole in the wheels. More times than not the GM wheels have not worked for me getting them to fit over the trailers hubs. I have used Ford wheels from time to time on 5 lug wheels.

The wrong back spacing can reduce the clearance between the tire and frame leading to tire failure.

I upgraded from my stock 15" wheels to a set of stock Jeep steel wheels ( people give away stock steelies, when they go bigger) they are 16's I had to get a set of 1" spacers as the back spacing was keeping he tires too close to the inner frame of the trailer. Now I run LT 225/75/16 load range "E" tires, and it stands taller, rolls better, and I don not get the tire wear and scrub I used to get with crappy 205 ST tires. I like having the heavier load rated tires also.
