$300 a day for a mini ex versus 17k for a new tractor gives you over 50 1 day rentals. When pricing rentals check out renting it for a week. Usually 4 times daily rate. Take your time relax and renta a Kubota excavator

30 days times $300 equals $9000 plus pick up and delivery or waiting on delivery if they have one in stock the day you want it. Actual cost.
$17000 (your figure/number) with immediate access for a minute or hours or days use. 30 days use at one gallon per hour diesel fuel cost 30x8=240 hours so one oil and filter change. Sell used machine with 240 hours for $13000/$15000 dollars equals a cost of $2200 to $4200 dollars vs $9000 dollars  Now how is that the best thing to do? :D

Thank you for all the good responses. Definitely has me thinking. I don't like the HST non-stop problem. I went over to Kubota.com and looked over the B2601, expecting it to be priced out of my ball-park, but it's not all that much more than the BX25D. It would also handle by RCR1248 cutter more gracefully, as well as my grading scraper, both of which dwarf the BX2660 (but function OK).

The B2601 is a really nice machine, much improved over its predecessor and seems a much better fit for your needs and gets you away from the quarter inching 3PH, poor ground clearance and vulnerable HST fan. I definitely would add wheel spacers for stability.

you are already familiar with the BX size and limitations. I would say the only difference with 2 digit BX and 4 digit bx is the subframe change for the BH. everything else is the same, i wouldnt sweat it and I agree with the fact of having a BH is nice . I got one and I dont use it every month , but its there if i need it. it doesnt take long to swap from 3 pt to BH mode, its certainly alot shorter then hooking up trailer to go pick up the rental BH and then deal with reservations crap , bring it home, work it hard to get it done and bring it back on time and then drive back home and unhook trailer .
if you are already comfortable with your BX and enjoy using it, i would just go get the bx25 for the BH . granted, you have to make the price difference, but if this is the last tractor you will buy......

One nice thing about the BX25D is the BH subframe is designed so you can use the MMM while both are attached. According to my dealer, the B series BH subframe interferes with the raising of the MMM to full height so it must be removed if you want to raise it high.

As for moving the BX25D while using the BH, my first time usage annoyed the crap outta me as I had to turn the seat around every time I wanted to move it due to a safety shutoff. User 'check' above states a solution to that and I will have to try that next time and hope it works.

Or just keep your current BX and pick up a mini ex like a kx41-2v which are around 12,000

I love the size of my B26 TLB but it cant be fitted with a belly mower. I personally wouldn't want a BX TLB due to the low ground clearance. Go with a B series tractor with a backhoe on a subframe. Even if you cant raise the belly mower up all the way, it likely still raises higher than the BX.
My backhoe never comes off my B26, I use it all the time.

My preference is to get a zero turn mower to mow with and a TLB to do your tractor work with. There isn't a lot of difference in the cost of a belly mower and a good zero turn mower that will mow circle around any tractor.
