You seem to be a guy that thinks about cost vs benifit trade offs. Just wondering what prompted this change? You seemed pretty positive about your first processor and showed good numbers on it.

Sorry for the late reply. Still very limited internet after the ice storm of the century here.

About 5% of the logs I buy are too large or twisted to go through the 16” model I had. And it was difficult to process logs close to maximum diameter unless they were straight with no nubs to lop off. This unit should handle 99% of the logs I get.

There are a bunch of added features that made upgrade worthwhile.

The payback worked out so I made the investment.

The post on log weight kind of puts the big redwoods in perspective. That's a lot of balanced standing weight...!

Snagged a couple of IBC containers based on pics I had seen somewhere in here using them for wood. (thanks to whoever it was!) They sell them pretty cheap nearby. Seems like a great way to have mobile wood stacks!

I pulled out the plastic container and cut an access in one side of the cage for loading/unloading as I saw others doing.

Loading up the first one. Super easy to load!

Up up and away! This was about all the loader wanted with the Vevor bucket forks I borrowed from a neighbor. I'm gonna keep my eye open for a good used QA fork attachment. I figure it's an honest 1/3 cord, perhaps slightly more. Mix of Red, White, and Chestnut Oak.

I put 5 18 inch diameter X 16 inch long Maple rounds in the B2601 FEL bucket to carry and lift up to the splitter today. There was some groaning going on with that load. Glad I didn't need to move far.

It's all split and going under cover now,

I know, I should have snapped some pics.

But I was in work gloves, and the camera phone was up on my desk.

I know this is a large range estimate here, but how much do you think a stacked IBC tote of say semi-dry oak or hickory weights? I would like to start stacking a few totes full and would consider making a weight to haul them on my 3pt. Not sure how my sub compact would handle that or not

I cut my openings even wider, I go one more vertical and have had no issues. That being said, if you plan to stack them, I would not remove the opening like I do.
