Moving logs to the firewood area to work up.
All you have written is correct. I'm working with a 3pt forklift many years. I know its features and dangers very well. I never drive a tractor with it high lifted except carefully when loading/unloading.A metric tonne and a ton aren't all that far apart. Just remember that you have the additional weight of the forks themselves (100 - 150 lb.), in addition to the tote full of wood, and the center of mass is 24" off the pins. Lifting near max tractor capacity may be feasible on a flat driveway or garage floor, but different when traveling across a rutted or hilly landscape, so margin is your friend. If you're just tossing wood in, rather than stacking, that will help reduce the weight a good bit.
I used to do it this way as well with the Quadrafire in the cellar at the old place. What I found after leaving the cellar door open, that the upstairs, second floor laundry chute lid left open, aided tremendously in the air rotation for the whole house.Jstpssng said:
I like my woodshed, but that's just me. I split, toss it into the trailer then stack it in the shed.
I like my wood shed too. I've worked up my wood lots of different ways and enjoy it all except stacking. But this is the way I like best because I only stack one time. Bring logs out of the woods, block them up on the trailer., split them, and stack in shed. Bring in basement one cartful at a time.

3 pt forks are a great tool. All you have written is correct. I'm working with a 3pt forklift many years. I know its features and dangers very well. I never drive a tractor with it high lifted except carefully when loading/unloading.
But thank you for reminder. I appreciate very much when someone reminds me something what I even know well myself.
That looks like a lot of expense, by the time you get done buying all of that lumber.I agree, waaay too much work for me too!
I split into my half cord boxes,

then line them up in the sun and let the splits dry,

I just move one to the house with my tractor as needed.

I agree that’s excessive, I watched FB Marketplace, and have paid between $25-$40, need to find a few more.I looked at used totes around here. They want $95 per. Needing 24 of them to do this right, isn’t worth it to me.
Built a 6x20 wood shed at the new place for a little more than a quarter of that.
