We would have needed pallets for each bag to keep the wood off the ground and to stage the bags in the garage when moving wood inside for the winter. How do you access the splits? Pull down the sides as you take splits off the top? What did they cost and how many uses are you expecting. IIRC they were about $25 ea?

We decided to go with IBC totes. It takes about 45 minutes to modify them, and the only down side is we need to hand stack and that takes time. But they last for a long time and the "bladder" acts as rain/snow hood. We have $800 invested in 32 totes and each holds just under 1/2 of a full cord. Too heavy for many compact tractors but the LS can lift 2700 lbs.

I tried a few, now I won't even take them for free... Too small and too hard to deal with...

Rob I don't use them for wood storeage . . . have a few around for water/irrigating. I try to get rid of them for a company I used to own.

You are killing me!!!! $800 pissed away. I would have given you a case of a good scotch...and helped you drink it. LOL

Oh well....we love the tote system for our situation. I had 15 staged in the garage this fall and they will last the winter with some to spare. I moved three empty ones out yesterday. Took more time to put the pallet forks on than to move the totes.

No, I came from Montana thats why there no trees left their...................

It seems like there should be a good joke there, but I can't come up with it. There's a Montana Forest and a Montana Desert... are you responsible for the latter?

I was having a pretty good day bringing out poplar, but my cable was kinking up so with my last hitch I ran it out to the end, thinking that if I dragged the trees for a bit it would straighten the cable a bit. Dumb move and I probably don't need to tell the results... the cable pulled out of the spool and I was done for the day. I haven't decided if I will replace it or just put the old length back in, it depends on how much I have to take apart to replace it.
