Why is a 2' beam only 8' long to begin with............ But is your pitch sticky, I'm getting it all over my gloves, arms, hands, clothes, hair, chainsaw, steering wheel.......

Well its a log not a beam, and thats about all this old man can handle!! Started out 12 feet long, had to cut it shorter just so my tractor could move it. I'm sure I couldn't roll it if it was that long.

Yes sometimes it is real sticky!! I got gloves I use just for those, and I take them off before I touch the steering wheel... Alcohol cuts it pretty good.

This one log gave me 40-8 foot 2x4s

Cut a second log , it gave me 30 2x4s and 2 x4s

so 70 2x4s and 2 4x4s for the day.. I'm happy. and tired!

Yep, always a couple sketchy ones, outside corners of the cant, I'd waste more trying to cut them out of the cant first, I just use them for sketchy areas!:laughing:

Even if I had the big log luxury I still wouldn't cut 6" boards out of 1' timbers and or 2x4s, I grew up under teaching of the right size log for the right size lumber, yeah I'm funny that way...

Son says the roof is 2-1/2" out of square and he dont know why so he left as is and started the tar paper today, has to get one more roll.

And I'm thinking these are the exact right logs for 2x4s and 1X6s! To cut one log and get 30-40 boards?? Sounds perfect to me! Wouldn't want to go through the hassle of having to cut 5-10 skinny logs to come up with the same amount of boards!
