Had to move a big old pasture spruce blow-down that was across a trail.

At first I thought it was hung on another tree. But once I cut in under it I could see that it was not hung up on anything. It was propped up and spiked into the ground by all the underneath branches. I cut enough of them so that when I pulled with the winch the tree collapsed to the ground. I needed two chokers to get around it.

From here it was a grapple job to open the road. Moved what I had to into the woods.

First the double top and the top of another small dead tree caught in the mess.

Then a couple bites like this.

And finally a couple loads of debris.

Glad I don't have to detour anymore.

Try and find a single cab pick up these days.
Most of them have turned into the new mini van.
I'll admit I do like a little bit of room behind the front seat, so I have a more secure place to store chainsaws and various other items. However, I'm not a fan of the full four door pickups. The wheel base is too long for work in the woods: they are much more likely to high-center when driving over a bump or through a water bar.

I haven't figured out which you like more...getting firewood in with your neighbors, or buying new tractors to make me envious. 😀

All going to be firewood (mostly oak), I was clearing trails on a "paying" job. The best kind! lol

A Chevy dealer about 15 miles from here has three of them there now.

I think they're making a come back. With an 8 foot box which seemed was hard to find for a long time.
Dodge now has a "classic tradesman" model or something like that.
Standard cab, 8' bed, and even has crank windows.
In white for $34K here. Add a color and it gets pricey really fast.
