Won't be going in the woods. I live on a small lot surrounded on three sides by National Forest Service and Salt Lake City Watershed. There is nothing above me at all, no power line, no motor vehicles, nothing, for about 1300 acres just in this drainage. I'm not allowed to cut firewood. I can't even cut down dead trees *on my property* without a permit. ( And I would never, ever do that... ). So this will be used to clear the road, light road maintenance on the dirt sections, move some rocks, spread gravel, kinda of stuff. 99% of the use will be doing work on the road. 99% of that will be clearing snow.

And yes, I actually do like getting out and doing stuff like this. I love being out in a big storm. Plus, the fact that I can clear when I need it, not when it comes up in the queue, will be priceless. Not to mention, being independent and not relying on someone else during the big dumpers.. big bonus.

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. I pick up my BobCat tomorrow. And I got a line on a 20' trucking container that I'll put up in the trees to keep her in so she'll stay warm and dry. Now, I just need that blower. And seat time. It's actually turned out to be a lot easier than I expected, right down to insurance. All the pieces seem to be falling into place like a giant Tetris game. I couldn't have done it without you guys. You guys rock!

You're welcome, and it sounds like the skidsteer is the best tool for your property. Stay warm, stay safe, have fun, and please update the thread with pictures when you get your new toy and using it to blow out those huge snowfalls you get.

I haven't read every reply here, but has anyone suggested a track type blower. They look like a skid-steer with tracks. The three wheel kind. Heated cab and about a 6' blower on the front. The tracks give you more stability. I know someone who has one. He has a drive that is about mile long, very narrow, and up hill.

Just a thought.

He has closed on a deal. Skid-Steer. He's now looking for a blower.

Yup. That looks like the top of Sunnyside lift at Alta? I've skied off that dramatic peak center-right photo, Mt. Superior. I live off the backside of that picture, at the right, near the photo edge... Anyway... the toy is here in my driveway...

500

(Ok.. what did I do wrong there? Help?)

In case that doesn't work, just click here...

Did you ever think about a traked skid steer? You could get a plenty powerful machine with a large blower and plow with heat and i think you would be in great shape. A little more money but I would not want to be you on a b series tractor with that much snow
