I've had good luck with TSC. We have a couple nearby and also had Quality Farms near each one. Prices were always comparable between the two. My biggest gripe about our TSC is being resolved: The store is way too small and congested. Solution: They are moving into the vacated Quality Farm building with more than double the space /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My local TSC 5 miles away runs through managers like water. They don't seem to know much BUT I made befriended a ritred farmer a couple years ago that works the stock room so I go to him if I need something or can't find anything or have to order. He can run rings around the young managers. I picked up my 6' KK box blade last year for less that QF&F.

Our local QF&F (12 miles away for me) is converting to TSC and it will be bigger. It will be interesting to see how they are when they open.

I just purchased a Fimco 3pt 55gal Sprayer with boom from TSC here in Indiana for $349 - I thought that was pretty good - they had an older model right next to it for $429 - I could not figure out why, but that is the cheapest I have seen for that type of set up.

I would say:

It is better to have a TSC with poor staff, than no TSC.

TSC is just like most of the rest of us.......sometimes we just need a little competition to get the best out of us.

they need a good solid customer service training program, a little more versatility with their products, they need to get into carrying some Kubota inventory, they need to offer an upgraded tractor implement line.....all of these I'm sure would cost the customer in terms of value and price of course.

On the plus side, they're AVAILABLE with convenient store hours. They carry a lot of tractor items that can't be found other places locally.AND...... You get to listen to some good George Strait music while you're shopping.

My main complaint is you go into the store after researching and deciding on what you want and WHY you want it.....and you ask someone and they try to tell you something that you just KNOW is not right. Sometimes I'd rather have someone just say I don't know rather than try to act like they do. to impress the customer. Also, i've never seen the manager of my local store actually in the building. Seems like they kind of 'under-schedule' employees also.
I have waited 30 minutes to get some towing chain cut before. And I've sat outside waiting to get an implement loaded on truck for about same.
just need some competition and they'll be fine.

Harv: Don't they have a TSC on Rodeo Drive? I'm shocked! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

If they did, that would still make it an 800 mile round trip for me. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Just as well. Sounds like the kind of store I just couldn't walk out empty-handed from.

I've been sort of holding off on getting a box blade until TSC opens in my area (three weeks or so as far as I know). Does anyone know the price of their 5' box blade? A local dealer here is supposed to be getting in a shipment of Leinbach equipment soon and he has priced their 5' box blade at $325. If his shipment comes in first, I'm wondering if I should pick one up, or wait for TSC to open.

My local TSC has 5' box blades priced at $300 and 5' brush hogs priced at $549 . On another thread, John Miller III indicated the brush hogs were $499 at TSC where he is. I'd assume a comparable difference on brush hogs. Additionally he further stated that he anticipates a 5%-10% discount off those prices in conjunction with Grand Opening/Re-Opening Sales at TSC's in the coming weeks.

...III indicated the brush hogs were $499 at TSC where he is...

Hi Gary,

In our area, the past couple years @ Central Tractor and then Quality Farm & Family... the Howse and later KingKutter rotary cutters were basically sold for $499. - 5 ft., and $489. - 4 ft....

Now... that they are bankrupt.../w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif and TSC has taken over many of their former locations... and since TSC appears to be the only game in town... and since a few years have passed... I am not surprised of the price increase to $549. (actually, still a very good value considering your other choices {for this performance level}...)

Using only logic here... (sometimes gets you in trouble.../w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif), I will assume after TSC gets the bulk of the new TSC locations up and running... I would expect a "National" splash of some sort of "Grand Opening Specials"... basically saying...Hey... everybody... these stores are back in business... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks for the info, Gary. It sounds like it's worth the wait for TSC to open here, especially if JM III is right!

John,

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't recall reading in your earlier post about the pricing not being current or the Grand Opening/Reopening Sale not being a coming event with only the dates unset.

Danny in Southern IN indicates in an earlier post on this thread that, at least at his TSC, there is a grand opening set for May 10-12. I guess waiting another couple weeks to maybe save $50-$100 on the box blade and brush hog is worth it. ;o)

It's not like I don't have plenty to do without those two pieces. Truth be told, all having them will do is lengthen my "to do" list substantially. Besides, it's really too wet to mow now anyhow (How's that for rationalizing?). ;o)

I am 45 minutes away from (2) TSC stores. Their customer service seems a bit lacking at the store level, and is non-existant at the corporate level. ( I had a bad experience at a store, and wrote a letter to corporate... not a bad letter.. just a disappointed customer letter... has been 6 mo. and not had a response... ).
I find that generally they don't know what they carry, and whether or not they have it in stock. I once drove the 45 minutes to pick up a hay ring that I called to verify that they had.. only to get there, and they didn't have it... decided to call the other store only to find out that it was discontinued, etc.
Again, on another occasion, I called to find out about 250# molassis/mineral tubs for cows and horses.. was told they had them.. drove out.. nope.. they didn't have them...

They do come in handy now and then with parts... but the people are bottom of the barrel.

I went to the TSC grand opening in Seymour, IN on Saturday, the 11th. It’s on until Tuesday, the 14th. They are giving 10% off everything if you get their credit card (at 22.16% interest I’ll be paying it off immediately!). Like I said earlier, their implement prices are kind of high. They didn’t have any special sales on implements, besides the 10% off deal. I was considering a 4’ lawn roller, but they were all out- they said they only had 1 because corporate considered it seasonal item and they’re out of season! I got a rain check, which for me means that since it’s raining all the time I’ll have plenty of time for garage projects and can build one by the time it stops raining around here (got another 2.4" yesterday and last night)! I did get a real good deal on a drill press (regular $170 on sale for $138, plus the 10% off) and a few smaller items that I’ve been needing. They will be nice to have around for that stuff, but I don’t think I’ll be buying any implements from them.

Danny:

While at Rural King Sat. I looked to see if they had any rollers in the 5-6' range...Nothing but a few 48" ones (18" dia). And I agree, 2.6 inches here overnight night, Schools out as roads are either flooded or washed out this morning......is it ever gonna dry out (clearing off later today, more rain forecast here for thurs, fri & sat.). Guess sometimes it don't pay to live where are the rivers in state converge!

I finally had to get more chicken feed, and it costs $2 more per bag at TSC than QF&F used to cost. Plus, the stuff at TSC has lower nutritional values.

In my neck of the woods, we had a QF&F and TSC for several years until QF&F went out. I always went to QF&F because the store was 4 times larger, and had a better selection.

What gives? Just voicing my displeasure. I'll have to start shopping at the local feedstores.

Paul,

We might be in the same town. I'm at the confluence of the St. Joseph's, St. Mary's and Maumee Rivers and it's plenty damp here right now.

butzkeg,

Check your phone book to see if there are any mills in your area. We buy our horse feed directly from the mill and save about $3 a bag (from the feed store price).

/ Tractor Supply Company #39
Yes there are. Thanks for tip.

There are 2 mills within 10 miles of my house, not any further than TSC.

I found out the mills are where my father-in-law gets all his feed for his horses. He's not one to watch his money, but I am.

Our tsc just opened at the end of April in Batavia, NY. They took over the bankrupt Central Tractor. They seem decent, but they have poor hours (close @ 5:00 week days). They need to stay open till at least 7:00.
