I own a 2009 JD 4320 with 250 hrs. I have had absolutely no problems up to this point. However, in the last couple of hours, the tractor has suddenly stopped running 3 separate times. Each time, it as if you literally turn off the ignition switch! However, once you turn the key all the way off and restart, it fires right up as if nothing ever happened

The tractor never spits and/or sputters, and there is absolutely no indication the engine is about to cut off. The fuel level is good, the air cleaner is fine and the fuel is fresh.

Any suggestions???

Check your fuel filter, it may have debris blocking the flow so sufficient fuel cannot constantly get through...and when it is starved for fuel it shuts off just long enough for more fuel to seep through so when you restart you are fine until it clogs again. Also maybe a loose wire..could be anywhere.

Sudden stops are usually electrical related. If you have something available, fabricate a test light connection from the male elecrical connector post on the fuel solenoid. Place the light where you can see it. When the sudden stop occurs see if the light is out. This will tell you if a fuse is opening or the relay is bad. If the light is on you need to them check the solenoid.

Check ignition switch as well.

Also any safety interlock switches (like a seat switch) your tractor might have may be getting flaky - or the connections to same.

Hi,

The answer may be in the OP's problem description.

"However, once you turn the key all the way off and restart, it fires right up as if nothing ever happened"

When you turn the key and manipulate the switch your resetting the connections inside. I would suspect the ignition switch as being the cause however, this is a tractor, always check the connection points and battery ground as well.
