Tractor size for clearing trees?

I'll agree to disagree on that one. A big stump here is about twelve feet in diameter out at the edges of the root ball and averages a couple of feet thick. Heaved up or not all the dirt that is caught between the roots belongs in the hole it came from. Even as it starts to settle from rot clattering on a rotten stump cut close dose a lot less damage then clattering on a chunk of blue ledge. When I'm mowing a piece every year I remember where the hazards are and pick up over them.

Then you my friend, either have a great memory or not much area to maintain. Stumps are NOT your friend and they only exist to tear up equipment.

Growing up we mowed about twenty acres with horse drawn mowers. I'm working that same land today but have pulled out a lot of rocks that used to be hazards.

On that I agree but don't feel I need to remove them to avoid them as they stay right where they are and I can drive around them or pick up over them.
Now little trees less then a foot in diameter? Sure push them over with the loader up high then set back and scoop them out with the bucket, cut off the tree and haul the stump to a dump pile. That's a different thing.

If I leave a stump I treat it with Tordon RTU when I cut the tree. In a year they dig out a LOT easier.
