Still looking...
Hi Guys:

There is a local family selling their tractor and I want to ask your opinions. Here are the details:

2210 (model year 2005)
35 hours
210 loader
60 mowing deck
$10,000.00

I know the 2210 is a fine machine, but what I really would like is a 2320 or 2520 to maintain our property. Due to being grossly over budget on building our house, the bigger machine will probably have to wait at least till next year.

The question is: If I buy this 2210 and use it for light duty (mowing, snow removal, driveway grading, landscaping, etc.,) for a year or two, do you think it is a good investment for the short run? My guess is that I値l probably have 200 to 300 hours on it before I move up.

I should be able to put 75% cash down and finance the rest, so I知 not paying much interest.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Sounds like a plan to me! :) Only 35 hours? hardly broken in!

Buy it! Well, uhh, why is he selling it? Anyway, that 2210 will knock out the tasks you mentioned easily. It can run the same attachments as the 2320 can run. A 2520 can more easily take a bigger blade/bucket, though. So it might take you an hour longer with the smaller machine, how much is that worth to you over a few years? Enough to justify saving ~$7-10K right now? Even with 200-300 hours, that 2210 should hold its value pretty well.

Good points VA. He says he wants bigger/faster loader capability. To save $7-10K now I think is worth it if the machine is in good shape... Especially if I can sell/trade it in a year or so for 75% (hopefully) of what I pay.

I would jump on it. If you don't put too much wear or hours on it, you may be able to sell it for more like 90-95% of what you paid for this barely used tractor.

Thanks Z. I'm going to go look at it today. Keep you posted.

I had a 2210 for 2 years, put 400 hours on her. Just an outstanding little machine. Go for it.

Good luck,

Malvern

How big is your place?

What do you plan on doing with it?

I had a 2210 - it did not have the power to really drive a LX-4.

Depending on what you are trying to do - it might be perfect. It will sip diesel and mow all day long with that 62C deck.

What kind of tires are on it?

I think you would have no problem with selling it on when you come to get something bigger.
A couple hundred hours extra will make no difference if it still looks clean and tidy.
