Alan,

I HAVE to ask, Why don't you rent pigs?

jb

I think I can answer that for Alan. Do you remember "Lonesome Dove", and the Hat Creek Cattle Company sign? The sign included the line "We don't rent pigs" because, as Gus said: "Well, we don't rent pigs, and it's better to say it right up front ..."

As for the bolts vibrating loose, I think I would just drill the heads and safety wire them together. It worked on B52's :D
There is an aircraft mechanic if I ever saw one. Where are ya/were ya stationed and what branch.

I was in the 98th Bomb wing 8th Air Force SAC. I was Station in Warner Robbins GA, for most of my time. Also spent a number of years on C130A in the 118th Tactical Airlift Wing TN Air National Guard. I was a crew chief the whole time so preventing loose bolts was a main part of my job. Safety wire was the way we kept those bolts in. It is amazing how smooth an 8 engine bomber is and how fast a bolt would fall out if it was not secured.

That pretty much says it. As long as I put it up front there that I don't rent pigs, then people won't be asking me to rent them a pig. Saves time and trouble. As Gus said. Of course, the reason I don't rent pigs is that I don't have any pigs to rent.

Alan, I hope you were mistaken about cleaning everything up with "brake fluid", that stuff will eat off the paint and possibly swell the gasket if it's not designed for use with brake fluid. I think the suggestion was to use brake cleaner. Just wanting a little clarification.

My rule is simple. If you borrow my tractor I throw in the operator. ME.
Here here - I even get nervous lending out a Harbor Freight socket set... :)

However - When the huge snows hit Buffalo - I let my BIL (who has a reputation for destroying things) - borrow our generator... warned him, explained the expiations and let it go... It came back fine. I am now sleeping again.

I believe B2710 with KK 60" tiller is not suitable for very hard, dry clay.

I was a recip mech. Lots and lots of saftey wiring! C-124s were the worst. Remember ole Shakey?

The C124's were well before my time. I got to work on a C7 one time but it was headed to the boneyard then. I don't think I ever worked on a recip. When I was in teh Guard I had a chane to work transient alert and do tramp duty. Serviced some cool stuff there. F15's, F14's, Gulfstreams,Lears,KC135. But it was long enough I have forgotten most of it anyways.
