Tractor cutting out while on full throttle

Hi All

I have a Ford 250c, roughly equivalent to a 4500 series ford. I was using it to spread gravel on the driveway and when it was running at more than full throttle it would start to cut out, I would throttle it down to a idle before it died completely, it would idle fine, and when I throttled it back up it would run fine again. It did this several times, and the last time it died completely and wouldn't start. Anybody have suggestions on what it might be or how I can diagnose it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't had the chance to run through the fuel system yet looking for obstructions. I had a few minutes of spare time and just looked it over and Discovered the hard line from the filter to the injector pump was finger loose, and the return line was a little loose as well. Would sucking air cause this symptom? I tightened everything up and started it and it still cuts out when at full throttle, not all the time though. Could there still be air in the filter that is getting sucked in from the line being loose?

Still plan on running the system looking for foreign material, I only had a few minutes to spare so far and wanted to mention the loose line. I don't think it would be appreciated if I had left the house smelling like diesel.:laughing:

3 things are required for combustion. It takes very little deviation from design to cause you issues. You are either starved for fuel, oxygen, or the ignition source.
