Tractor
Mahindra 2615HST
I suppose I could have posted this in the discussions, but I know others wander in here.

What would it mean if Mahindra were green?
And what would you do if Kubotas were blue?

A red New Holland? I don't think so.
John Deere in orange? Please say it ain't so.

In all seriousness. What if John Deere tractors were orange? Do you think they'd sell as many? Same goes for blue Kubotas. Imagine a green Mahindra.

To clarify this, I am referring to compacts, and agricultural tractors. I know some Deere stuff is yellow.

Weird thought, huh?

Shoot, I have seen John Deere in green, orange and yellow. Just depends on the industry it's used in as to what color it is.

The Kansas highway department paints them all yellow or orange, for safety I'd guess.

I think the dull yellow is the factory color for industrial JD equipment.

Never really thought about it.

Don't think the color means all that much,as long as it fits the needs of the operator.....okay,okay I admit I draw the line when it comes to a pink color tractor.

I think that JD has worked long and hard (and spent a ton of marketing money) to make lime green the trademark, symbol and icon of American-made farm machinery (no matter how much that fact may be changing in the 21st century). Kubota has done the same with orange for it's product line. Orange is now the yuppie status symbol around here... and efforts to copy it by Kioti were vigorously fought. Blue is just a way of figuring out that New Holland is really the old Ford. Many have chosen fire engine red as their product's color... the historical default color for farm equipment (at least in my area) derived from the old IH/Farmall days.

The bottom line is that there is a lot of history and product/trademark identification tied up in these colors and I don't think they are ever going to change. Of course, you've also got your trouble makers out there like Brian (MtnViewRanch) who choose to buck the system and cannot leave well enough alone!!! :D It just confuses us all!!!

Good thing he is otherwise a fairly nice guy! :)

Hea! What do you mean fairly nice guy? I'm top notch, just ask Dave's Tractor. :D And by the way, I'm working on my aversion to red, it might take some time though.

If the wife would let me get the last tractor that I looked at, even I would like red, but then I would have to buy these orange disks, and I don't know how much I would like that color combination. Well after thinking about it for about a second, I would like it just fine.:D

1st pic, me on my new Case. (I can dream can't I)

2nd pic, my brother next to my new disks (I'm still dreaming):)

Are you sure you want to put that disk behind that tractor??:D :D :D

If I remember right, those disks weigh in at 890 lbs per blade. They actually make a narrow set that is only 9' wide if I remember correctly. After all, it only takes 5 hp per foot to pull these things, right? Shoot, with that new tractor I could pull a 60 footer.;) It wouldn't matter anyway, they only go to 23' wide. Back in the real world, it takes a minimum of 450 hp to pull that 23' model.

Lets see, for about 350k I could get my 80 acres disked real good in about 11 hours instead of the 35-40 hours that it takes me now. I guess that I will go back to dreaming about that red machine.:)

Well, that disk and a proper pulling unit would make short work of some of the logged land some fellows want to work down.:D :D
