1710 Ford, Versatile 150
I just had to do it a Versatile 150 Bi-Directional. Now I have joined the world of hydrostatic as well as articulated.

I am not sure of the year. This model was built 77-81 but it only has 3900 hours and has not been used hard. It has set outside though and so it needs some TLC. I can't wait to play with it!

I know the rules - no pic it didn't happen!

That is pretty cool. What's the plan for it? I was surprised to see the loader only lifts 1900 pounds. I'd be tempted to but bigger cylinders on it.

The tractor itself is pretty lightweight - 7800 lbs. I wanted that because then I could drive it on the lawn most of the time without leaving impressions. Consequently the drivetrain is not real heavy duty and you don't want too much weight on the loader - one of the main problems with these tractors has been front axles.

That being said I had two "decorative rocks" in my front yard (to old farmers rocks are not decorative) that I have wanted gone for a long time but have not had the equipment to do so and just never got around to organizing somebody else to do it. One I calculated was 800-1000 lbs the other was at least 50% more. When I got this toy I thought I would try it out and even though the scoop has some gussets inside it that would not let the rocks all the way in (in fact they were barely on) it lifted both of them seemingly easy so I know it will lift more than 1900 lbs. The bucket is rather large and I had it full of clay dirt the other day and it handled it well.

One of my main purposes is a mobile work platform as my house has some difficult areas to get to. But I will also be getting a grapple and use it for handling brush and firewood logs. It will be nice in the winter also moving snow when it gets deep and handling big round bales. My 1710 just isn't a stable enough work platform.

I could easily justify the cost of it as the work platform but it will be fun to have for a lot of other reasons. I will put some paint on it and restore it somewhat but it is a working tractor. Still it is the first model of a great utility concept that I intend to keep around and show it off.

It's still weighs double what a compact tractor with a comparable loader strength weighs. Does it have fixed axles? It looks more like a wheel loader instead of a tractor.

Nice machine. Did they have the 3ph hitch option for the front in that vintage?

No. On the 150s and 160s they didn't have the 3pt hitch, drawbar, or PTO on the engine end. I kind of wanted that but decided not to because I wanted the smaller lighter machine and the first vintage.

Not sure what you mean by fixed axles?

My daughter loved it. Here she is driving it both directions.
