track too tight

If your tracks are real dirty they will bind up,I've also had it happen in deep snow.

Comes to mind, it takes about a 3/4" wrench to fit that check valve. If you have a 6-way blade. you can put a suitable block (6 X6 or so) between the back of the blade, and idler, angle left, and push it back.

Percy all what I did in the past finally remembered was stick a piece of 6x6 or something in front of the track to drive against to push it back.

Put a 4x4 between the front of the track and back of he blade. Turn the blade in slow. It'll collapse the tension cylinder and push all the old grease out.

Good idea Brett we didn't have 6 way blades when I had to do it this would be much simpler

What Gordon says.

On my 450, the zerk threads into a check ball assembly. Yours is probably the same. Here's what my manual says to loosen the track:

"Loosen, but do not remove the adapter into which the pressure fitting (zerk) is inserted. Allow enough grease to run out until the proper track sag is reached. Tighten the adapter to 45-55 ft.-lbs. torque."

Like Gordon says, you may have to push on the front idler to get the adjuster to collapse.

Good luck with it.

"Get western"? I like it, is that like "go crazy" or something?

Yep, Get Western means treat the clutches like you stole it....I'm a former operator. You can tell I'm not a mechanic.....:)

If you don't have a 6-way blade, hook a come-along to the idler wheel and chain it to a rear frame member. Be sure that side is off the ground and supported with wood blocking, not concrete, concrete will crumble with the weight. Crank it back and the grease will come out. To push it back reinsert the zerk and pump it into position with a grease gun.

Another way to help loosen track tension after you take the check loose is to back up with a piece of firewood between the track and the sprocket just take it slow
