Track performance in snow

/ Track performance in snow #23
One day we were playing with my Scout out in the pasture and broke thru the crust on the snow. My Dad hopped on his crawler loader (about 5 ton with steel tracks) and came to dig us out. Always remember him sliding downhill across the pasture trying to get traction on the slight slope. Finally he thought to "drop anchor" with his bucket....

Great information. How easy/hard is it to mount the steel tracks and take them off?
Doc

Once you get good at it, about a half hour per side. Most people use ratchet straps to install them but there is an installation tool that helps. The local Bobcat dealer sells a tool which speeds up the process, I think one of the track manufactures makes it. I made one of my own, of a different design.
