Track adjuster help.

Can you post a picture of your tracks? Mine bolt together. Four bolts that go through one track and into the other. The design locks them together and the bolts just keep them that way.

Your Komatsu has a master pin linkage, I have not heard of a master link for them. This does not mean that they don't exist, I have not seen or worked on them. On the outside edge of your chain, there will be one pin with a dimple in it,this is the master pin. This is the pin you will have to drive out to break the chain. Call your local Komatsu dealer and ask the service desk on how to break the chain on a Komatsu dozer. They will confirm what I have been telling you.

Eddie Walker, I have not worked on a Case dozer, so I am not familiar with the system you describe. It does sound easier to break a track this way rather than the master pin system. Komatsu, Cat, Dresser and some others use the master pin to connect/disconnect the tracks.

I have a Caterpillar 225 excavator with a blown track adjuster seal. I have already taken the track off. I am not sure what steps to take next. Need advice. Thanks.

Since no excavator guys answered yet I can say what to do if it was my dozer - might help.
Remove front idler by unbolting from fork and slide off track frame.
Pull fork, adjuster cylinder, and adjuster rod forward out of track spring.
Remove greese and relief valve fittings from adjuster.
Push rod back all the way into the adjuster to remove grease from cylinder.
Pull out rod. Apply compressed air very carefully into greese fitting hole in the base of the cylinder. Piston will fly out of cylinder - be ready.
Wash everything out real good with deisel or other solvent.
Replace cylinder seal and lip seal.
Before reassembly put a little grease in the bottom of cylinder. Push piston in until you get all grease and no air coming out of greese fitting hole. put in fitting and relief valve. Reassemble
Might help, might not.

Just beware a blown seal many times means the track pins/bushings are worn and are allowing the rod to extend too far......thus blowing the seal....

If this is the case, you need someone with a track pin press to repair or replace........some tracks can be disassembled (pressed apart) and the worn pins can be pressed back in 180 degrees to give a little more life to the track assy.......sometimes you can repair the adjuster cyl and find a spacer to weld on the end of the rod to make up some slack (not the right way but temp fix)

That said, The right way is to have it repaired properly with new pins/bushings.....then repack/repair track adjuster cyl and done...
