towing a hydro tractor

the other day i had to tow my neighbors tractor it got me thinking about my tractor.i have a kub 3130 hydro does anyone know the proper steps to take if you have to tow your tractor if engines not running.i looked in owners manual but could not find any info. thanks in advance

My BX is hydro. Didn't read in the manual, but logic says put it in Neutral. Since the tractor ROLLS free in N, towing it a short distance in N shouldn't hurt it. I'd make sure it's not in 4WD too.

Yep, I agree with Ron. You can also lock the clutch pedal down which is what they recommend for long storage times without use.

ok i was just wondering cause on my zero turn mower you have to disengage a lever on the tranny before the wheels would free spin but that dont have a clutch thanks for the replies

No "clutch" and mine dont roll at all in "neutral"??? Or do you mean "neutral" as far as a "speed range" goes??

Logic says that is should be:
Engine -to- clutch -to- hydro trans -to- range trans -to- transfer case (front and rear) -to- differentials

Would seem the most reasonable but that doesn’t always mean anything.

This also reinforces the need to always set your parking brake when ever you get off of the tractor. If for some reason, intentionally or un-intentionally, you leave the range trans in neutral you could lose your tractor and/or hurt someone.

If the range trans is between the hydro and the differentials, putting it in neutral would serve the same purpose as the disengage levers

It is engine > hydro > range trans > transfer case > differential > wheels

Putting the range in N will disconnect the wheels from the hydro and be safe for towing.
