So how many steps to get up to your "office"... (...and can I go for a ride out on the end of the crane?) :D:laughing::thumbsup:

Yes MD3 I ran a lot of "pickers" before they let me run the big stuff. And I was broke in on a Manitowoc 4100 ringer.

It's about 180'. Yep there's a little service basket that hangs off the trolly you can ride. Don't worry I'll go slow. :D

Look at the second line at the top where you see "Main Index", "Today's Posts".... Click on the "My Home" tab...

On the left side look for "Settings & Options" and the first one you want is "Edit Avatar"... then you have two options... if you need any more help, just ask...

Hello I'm a heavy equipment operator that specializes in tower cranes.

Question for you: When lifting a load, do you move the counter-weight
at the same time to keep everything balanced?

In Germany, they use small versions of these cranes for relatively small
residential building projects, believe-it-or-not. Usually they are "planted"
in the back yard and kept there until all the major materials are installed
for a new house.

No. Their is alot of deflection built in to the crane. The tip probably drops 10 feet at max load.

I have run a crane that did that once. They called it a kangaroo crane. And the counter weights extended out at the same time as you boomed down. Pretty neat. But it was still run like a conventional crane. I like the tower much better
