Tough little dirtbucket with teeth!

I contacted a local JD dealer about an ATI tooth-bar for my JD 420 loader with the 60" bucket and he didn't recommend that I put a tooth-bar of any kind on the bucket as it will add potentially harmful stress to the loader frame.

We have Claycrete (bentonite) and I think a tooth-bar would help penetrate that junk easier for digging.

Any thoughts on this?

Yup, teeth go into the ground better because of higher psi. However, once you hit that 61 inch wide bucket edge, it will stop penetrating. But it gets you started, and that's prabably what you need.

Thanks for the link to the toothbar thread. I think I'll put making a toothbar on my project's list. I found a link on TBN to an outfit that sells the teeth. I can buy the steel flat from the scrap yard.
