Toro mower model #26622 leaking gas bad!

Well now have the blades engaging right but the thing is leaking gas BAD. Tried removing carb. spraying out with carb cleaner and replacing carb bowl gasket still leaking bad. The replacement carb. is over $150 more than he paid for the mower. My brother is about to bag the whole mower. Rebuild kit soaking in carb cleaner over night. The local mower shop will not rebuild the carb.?

Can this engine be converted to a Walbro carb. one that parts are easier to find? When he looks at the carb float he says it does not look like it is attached to anything? Is theer suppose to be a linkage from the float to a valve to shut off the fuel flow?

It is missing the float needle and spring. This allows the float to regulate the amount of gas that is in the float bowl. Without it, as you discovered, it just overflows. Should be an easy thing to pick up at a small engine shop. The spring attaches to the lip on the float, and the needle goes inside the hole at the bottom of your second picture.

I don't see the float hinge pin in the picture either, might need to pick up one of those.

Wow seems like alot of parts are missing from this carb. You think some one messed with it before my bro bought it, OR did these parts rust away to the rust we found in the in the bowl while siting for awhile.

Well the needle rusted right out of the carb. Due to the disimalar metals in the Mikuni carbs. Once we cleanre s the rust chucks of where the needle shoudl be and put a new needle and seat in it started on the second pull and did not leak a drip!!
