Top Link Hydraulic

I am still learning my way around the box blade and especially the hyrdaulic to the top link. It is nice to be able to adjust the angle on the BB but I have a couple of questions. The lever seems to be very "stiff" to operate, is that normal? Also, going both directions there seems to be a "lock" position which keeps powering the hydraulic, when there is no need to since the cylinder has reached the end. What would the lock postion be used for? I could see it useful if it kicked off when the cylinder reached the end. Should it do that?

Also, I have developed a small leak around that hydraulic, probably from misuse. There have been a couple of times when I did not realize it was locked and still "pumping". I am hoping there is no hole in the hose, and that some simple tightening will stop the leak. It does seem that the whole unit is so compact that the hoses are in a bind.

Another question on use of BB: I have a 1/4 mile drive with small ditches on each side. The BB extends outside the rear tires several inches. Should I be able to drop the angle on the right side of the BB enough to clean the debris from these ditches? And how far can you angle the BB? I turned the lever for several turns, but did not want to totally unscrew it. Is that possible?

Sorry for the elementary questions but the BB is a new device for me.

The lock postion on your remote is for powering things like backhoes or log splitters that have their own hydraulic control valves and just need a constant supply of oil to power them.

Yes you can probably unscrew your adjustable side link. I know on my old tractor (Kubota B1750) that was the case. Put your box blade close to the ground and keep cranking the link out to see how far it goes. Keep the box blade close to ground or better yet take it off so it doesn't fall far if the link separates. Then put the link back together and screw in a bunch of turns and you will then know how far you can safely extend it. Pick up the box blade and see what kind of an angle that gives you for doing you ditch work.
