Well, I blew it.

I went with a Tisco tooth bar from my local dealer. He has always been helpful, and done me right, so I hate it when I always seem to mail order etc. around him.

I have about a 5' Markham, and was / am very impressed with the service and the quality, price was about the same, TISCO was a little cheaper...

Anyway, yeah, it works, but the TISCO is not nearly the quality or the beefiness of the Markham bar.

Pictures look the same, but it dissapointed me when I realized that it is built lighter then the Markham.

Just thought I would share that thought so others would make the decision with their eyes wide open.

I ordered a Markham bar on Friday, July 6. They promised to call me with a ship date as soon as it was built. They called Wednesday, July 11, with a "DELIVERY" date of today ! So, I'm hopeing it will be on my porch when I get home in a while. (1:40pm now)

58.5" - $270 +/- to my door. I think the Grand L will like it.

Because of all the reviews here, plus lots of other research, I ordered a Markham bar on Wed 7/11.

Got a voice mail today, that my bar is scheduled to be delivered Mon 7/16.

Am really looking forward to getting it mounted and trying it out.

Excellent service for sure - I wonder if they (Markham) knows how many orders are generated from this forum.

eBay: FREE SHPG Tooth Bar,Toothbar,Front End Loader 59"Bucket (item 320136799436 end time Aug-10-07 07:10:46 PDT)

Just thought I'd pipe in. Earlier this spring I ordered and received a 60" toothbar from this ebay seller, no added shipping cost, very well made, mine has 7 replaceable teeth. A good buying experience all around..
I know many TBN'ers have bought from Markham, in fact, right after I ordered mine I found ALL the " I love my Markham toothbar " posts and thought oop's I messed up, but it worked out ok for me...

My Markham bar was around $40 less than Iowa Farm Equip WITH shipping of $42 ups to my doorstep. Quality appears to be excellent, although I have not yet installed it.

I wouldn't worry about getting a lighter bar than the Markham depending on what you do. I got a Markham it is great but probably too heavy duty for my Kioti KL130 Loader; whatever I would do with the loader wouldn't require that heavy a bar.

My problem is I got them backwards :D

I have the "heavy duty" on my little 33 hp tractor with 1000 lb lift. (NH 1925 w/ 7308 loader )

I have the "lighter duty" Tisco, on my 555C Ford backhoe..

Oh well, they both work

I am new to the toothbar thing, but think I could use one. My question is do they have to be welded when they arrive or do they bolt on. I am not a welder and do not have a way to transport my tractor the 15 miles to where I usually take things to be welded.

More guys bolt them on, some weld, but not necessary. Two holes (7/8" I think), are drilled in sides of loader bucket, then install with supplied bolts, nuts, brackets. good luck.....

Isn't your lower price a function of your relative proximity to Markham? The shipping amount/total will vary dependent on the distance shipped.

FWIW, I have a toothbar from Iowa Farm equipment bought in the deal offered in ebay. It is a Tisco bar and was 1/2" shorter that ordered. Shorter than the label on it's box indicated also.
