There ya go, way to smooth the entire thing over. Keep dumping gas on the fire... Jeeez.....

Mowbiz, I'm sure they were just joking around and if they weren't, so what? If they don't like shiny buckets then they don't have to look at it! ;)

Congrats on the new tractor and tooth bar by the way. I just put one on my Kioti and it is amazong how well they work.

Thanks! The jokers can blow hot air all they want to...I'm over it...:D
On to bigger and better things...:)

As promised, here's my Markham Tooth Bar installed today. Happily, there is no "gap" to speak of, so I guess I was lucky...:D

The unit lines up perfectly, seating all the way into the tooth "indents" and there was only a "2 washer" gap on the right hand side where the bolts go. The left side was flush and perfect. I added some steel plate washers to the install just to be doubly sure of a good tight install...overall, I ecstatic about the way it went...I could not find a 1/2"hole saw at the Home Depot so I just used a half inch bit with a smaller pilot hole drilled first...and plenty of cutting oil...:D
My toothbar from Markham also fit perfectly in my 72" bucket. I got it in 2005.
I just ordered a 48" one for my wife's 284 Jinma, so we'll see how that one fits.

This continues to be a mystery as to why some guy's TB fit so well and others are having gaps at the bucket floor. I wrung out the TB today and the gap definitely was problematic when trying to empty the bucket. I even had a rock the size of a large rat hang up. I would not have minded except I did not know it was in there and as I swung around the rock flew out of the bucket, traveled about 8 ft and landed right in the middle of the pizza resting on a nearby picnic table bench. On mine, I believe the gap would have been eliminated if a 3/4 " cutting edge was used for the tooth weld base. Either that or different teeth are being used per cutting bar. Speaking of rocks, this job was going along swimmingly until I hit a rock the size of the Arc of the Covenant. The job is now at a stand still as my tractor with a Middlebuster attached can't budge it.It first appeared so innocent but it must be in the ground a good 3-4'.

Got my Markham toothbar today and will be installing this weekend. Question I have...........does it matter whether the 3" piece of plate steel that they ship with it goes on the inside of the bucket or the outside of the bucket? I've seen both methods here and other forums. Are washers recommended on the otner side of the reinforcing plate? Thanks. :)

Hmmmm...lends new meaning to the "extra topping pizza" Sorry..I feel for your dilemma. If mine had such a gap I think I would be wondering why as well...Does Markham want to work with you on the problem or have you even tried to ask them for a solution? If not, I think it's worth a try...

The 3" pieces are meant to be on the outside of the bucket to add strength and to minimize "rounding out" the hole you drill. It's recommended that it be welded to the bucket as well. I have not had mine welded yet. I would use washers as an added bearing surface no matter what...can't hurt:)

I haven't tried. I know they know abut the gap. I'm not sure they know why it happens to some. If I knew maybe I could approach them with a solution but I think it might entail a whole new toothbar. They're nice enough people and they give the buying public a large break with not only pricing but they give true shipping costs as well. That's worth more to me than an occasional rock topping on my pizza. (Besides my wife says I have rocks in my stomach already so what's one more)

LOL ... Well, that's better than what my wife says about me.
She says I've got rocks in my head! That is until I showed her the new Markham toothbar that arrived yesterday for HER tractor. Now I'm not so dumb after all!:)
We will take it up to the property in a couple weeks to fit it to her tractor to see how it fits. I'll make a post and take some photos of how it fits.

If I had a wife that could weld and wanted her own tractor, she could call me anything she wants. My wife does that anyway plus I always get "Well, why do you need that". She came home a couple three years ago with a new 1100 Vstar Silverado. I came out with a big smile and said "nice bike, now this is what you're supposed to say when I bring home stuff".

I'll be interested on how the new toothbar fits. It may go on better with a skid steer type bucket as that's what Markham makes. I think a bolt on type toothbar would be better served with a dual edge cutting blade as its weld base as I think material would slide out of the bucket better. Not to sound demeaning to this toothbar I have, for its held up on this job like a trooper. I'm doing stuff that in my mind, a 20 hp tractor has no business doing. If anyone is interested, I'll post some pictures of the current job. (Cutting a side hill for a stone wall)

Mowbizz, on the photos you posted I saw that you drilled the wholes in your bucket as far as possible from the front. Would'nt have been better to make the wholes closer from the front so just by loosing the bolts you could pull the bar and lift it up so you can use the bucket straight edge?
