So i finally got to using my GC1715 digging my drainage ditches. with the standard bucket it works but was wondering what the difference would have been with a tooth bar or tooth bucket.

Do you use one?
Will it make a difference.
how much money did you spend?

I ask this because I am a welder fabricator at heart and that is my occupation. I don't want to spend money if not needed. I could make one if it makes sense.

I have a CAT Half Arrow add-on tooth bar

159-: Toothbar Assembly (Half Arrow) (72") | Cat(R) Parts Store

It is called a Half Arrow Tooth Bar because the tooth cross section looks like half of an arrow head,,

My tractor digs 5X better with the tooth bar,,,

DO NOT look up the price of that tooth bar,,unless you are sitting down!!

Tooth-bars make a big difference when digging.I never take mine off;bolted on and can be removed tho.
The difference is like a flat bladed shovel compared to a round point.
Forget what I paid but around $150 or so.

If you're used to back-dragging with the cutting edge a tooth bar will not leave a smooth finish...most just use the heel of the bucket to back drag and leave the tooth bar on instead of removing...

Like others have stated, a tooth bar will make a big difference when digging. Money well spent. ;)

Yep. I have a Construction Attachments tooth bar on my 72” HD round back bucket. Think it was $675 or so. I’ve never taken it off, it helps tremendously when digging. Very happy with it.

Tooth bars are great 90% of the time the only downside is when you are tring to scrape clean a hard surface hence I take mine off in winter for snow removal. Goes back on in spring .Make your own save lots of money .You could make it exactly the way you want it .:drink:

Titan attachments sells several tooth bar kits. I bought the 5 tooth kit and welded it up. Bolts on and can be removed.

As others have said it digs like a champ

What is you main use/need/desire for the teeth on the bucket ? Digging/excavation OR picking up things ? Is yours a 4-in-1 "pinch bucket" or just a plain solid bucket?

I welded up my own DIY tooth bar.
Teeth every 7-8 inches, so effective that I ever remove it.
Simply a 'day and night' improvement.
My 30 hp CUT thinks it is a skid steer.
Back dragging with an angle is a great root stripping machine. About the only downside is scooping sand on a hard surface but then my drive is not paved,
Highly recommended.
