BLES you definitely hit the problem! I have performed two actions with my 5600C which have made the difference. First, I tightend the cap on the radiator overfill tank. Second, based on the suggestion that I received on this website, I consulted my operators manuel, and then removed the screen and lifted the oil cooler, much to my superprise there was a carpet of grass clippings which I had to remove with a shopvac. Since then, I have moved 12 acres this weekend without an issue. I am not in the habit of bashing anyone! My dealer is very responsive! However, why didn't they figure this out?? This is a great testimony to the value of this website! Information shared here is invaluable!

most people on this site have 10x's the experience with the tc than any dealer. most here are also pretty mechanically inclined. nothing against my dealer, but i get much more valueable information here than at the dealer. i bet most dealers have never even run a mower on the tc. ask everyone here and get real world experience. nothing can compare.

btw - i always keep my radiators clean and i think that is why i have not had issues with overheating.

Theoshin! It has taken one year to get all the issues with my 5600C solved. You are so right about the dealers! My dealer is great, but when they sent their Bobcat Tech to my farm, he admitted he never had been in a TC when mowing prior to this time. Despite the issues, My TC is awesome and I more than content with this purchase.

Don't just tighten the cap, replace it. I have never tested a cap that was a year old or older that met it's spec. They all leaked some way or other. This is cheap insurance. I am glad you fould the main problem. There are great people with lots of experience here.

BobRip: Everything else worked on the great advice I received on this forum, therefore I am going to order several and replace them once a year!

I mowed for 11 hours with a b series today in dusty, 96 deg, humid weather. I had to clean the radiator a number of times but it never got out of the green zone. As the temp climbed, however, I took time a few minutes to clean the grill and after 5 hours, used my air hose to blow out the radiator from underneat.
If the C series has a better cooling system, i imagine the same dilligence would = much better cooling.
BTW, you should be able to smell radiator fluid leaking under pressure. I found a leak by following my nose. Dealer said no leak but I was sure and today I had confirmation from the cap...

yellowdocsvc: Thanks for the information! The first time my C overheated was very dramatic with 30 minutes of steam and the loss of all coolant. Now that I am understanding my system and the need for diligence, I hope I won't have any more overheating issues! Again the information that all have given me is simply "outstanding"!

After two summers of overheating with my 5600C, I am happy to say that thanks to the Boys on TractorByNet, my problem has been solved. In July after reading suggestions on this site, I removed the screen and lifted up the oil cooler which revealed a 1/2 inch matt of grass and debris. Since then after each mowing, I clean the radiator with air. I also keep the radiator cap tight. I have mowed for hours with the a/c full blast in 94-96 degree weather with high hunidity and no problems. Not bashing anyone, but you would think dealers would know this stuff!! My dealer has informed me that Bobcat is replacing the cooling fans on Toolcats up to the C series with a new design. I am waiting for mine to arrive!

I am glad to hear you have a solution. I can't tell you how important it is to keep those radiators clean. It is part of my walk around ( to stretch my legs) every time I mow or use a brush grinder).

Can you tell me more about the cooling fan upgrade?

My dealer informed me that Bobcat has developed a new cooling fan without bearings to replace problem fans in the Toolcat model. That's what I was told and when I get it installed, I will provide more information.
